Evening all,

hope life is treating you all well, you’re enjoying summer, life in general and you’re all looking after each other.

Dead Man’s Shoes. How the hell have I never seen this film until the other day and then watched it twice?!

Simply amazing!

Yes! Stumbled upon it recently as well... some amazing performances.

In reply to Denni:

If you haven't already watch some of Shane Meadows other films as well. A Room for Romeo Brass was my favourite. And of course This Is England.

Great film.

"You ya cvnt". That scene by the garages is so good.

It's scary how close to real life a lot of these characters are. I definitely knew so many of these types growing up (especially growing up in Matlock)

A Room for Rome Brass is worth a watch too.

"I told him not to mention the elephant"

It was a bit flawed in places, some of the dialogue was a bit stilted, but the building sense of dread had me hooked.

Toby Kebbell was brilliant as Anthony.

Also worth checking out is ‘Tyrannosaur’ directed by Paddy Considine.

An absolutely blinding film. The standoff with Sonny is amazing. The banter between the guys is amazing and natural.

"we had an agreement, no pissing about!"

And a twist that I simply did not see coming at all.

An absolutely brilliant film, manages to be both comical and dark at the same time.

Paddy Considine is simply brilliant as are others too.

"You're there mate..."

A fantastic scene. I think I've rewatched it so many times I can probably recite it word for word (saddo)

Isn't it?  It's just so memorable.... Paddy Considine's portrayal of contained rage is incredible.

To anyone who has not seen it, or wants to see it again, here it is.  No spoilers in this clip.

Serious goose bumps watching that.  That little laugh he gives in response to "you're not scared of me are you"

Seriously, how the hell can you film this:

...and keep a straight face?  (or how many takes did they do).

I was alsways struck by the amazing natural chemistry and banter between all the guys in the scene.  I've got this on dvd somewhere downstairs in the cupboard.  Mission for tonight is to dig it out, I think..

If you find that DVD then the deleted scenes are well worth a watch, especially the alternative versions of the final confrontation. Powerful stuff, but also an insight into the way Meadows and Considine worked together - clearly lots of improvisation.
