I'm looking to buy a set of pans for camping. Desired features are:

  • Hard anodised aluminium
  • Ideally no plastic components; I prefer a 'gripper' type handle, and I might want to have them over a fire at some point.
  • Nesting set of two pots, two frying pans/lids
  • Size 1.5/1.75L for largest pan

So far the Alpkit Vagabond set has stood out as good value for money, but I can't find info on volume/size. Alpkit say it's ideal for cooking for four, which makes me wonder if it would be too big for me.

The other set I'm looking at is the Trangia Tundra 3 https://www.leisureoutlet.com/caravans-and-motorhomes/housewares/cookware/1... This looks to be pretty much ideal for me.

Any info on the size of the Alpkit pans would be appreciated, also any ideas for other sets to look at.

Cheers

The first review on the Alpkit site gives the volumes.

Did you look at Alpkit's Alipots? The rubber handles are detachable so you can use them over a fire. I've found them to be the perfect size: the small one is sufficient for solo trips, and the larger 1.7l one is useful when cooking for two.

Cotswold also sells the gripper pan handles individually, so you could always just buy any pan you like and buy the handle separately.

Cheers, those are almost certainly what I'm going to get now.
