Are they being replaced because they are unsuitable for use any longer or just because you don't like the style of shock absorber? if the former, however you eventually get rid of them I'd cut them up into little bits to be absolutely certain that they couldn't be obtained and used by someone who knows no better.
The more destroyed the better considering the case a while back where someone had sewn together a load of retired and chopped harnesses and sold them on e-bay.
If they are still ok and you are confident of their providence then you could sell them on or donate them to someone with full information and caveats provided. Although many people aren't keen on second hand gear many people still use it.
