“Mr.” being dropped from brand name.

Watch out, “Mr Fusion”.
Sounds like a perverse sexual practice favoured by vegetarians.
It's potatical correctness gone mad!
Is it bollocks. It's PR and marketing gone completely normal. They're tweaking the brand a bit and picking up some free publicity while they're at it with a view to selling more plastic toys.
Rowan Atkinson had better get sorted out.
> It's potatical correctness gone mad!
Have you got a chip on your shoulder about this?
> potatical
Oops. Sense of humour failure earlier - hadn't properly opened my eyes before mashing the keyboard.
Mr Potato Head still lives and holds sway in the form of Matt Hancock
> Mr Potato Head still lives and holds sway in the form of Matt Hancock
Alex Salmond actually.
"They Motivator" is back in the gym.
They could have expanded the range to Mrs, Ms, Mx Potato Head...
They deserve a kick in the spuds!
Mr Coffee and Mr Radar are right out too...
> They could have expanded the range to Mrs, Ms, Mx Potato Head...
They have already had Mrs Potatohead for a while now. All they appear to be doing is renaming the top level branding to reflect that.
In reply to:
At a meeting at work yesterday someone mentioned that it is now aggressive to use full stops I am not sure how we are supposed to write sentences anymore But I will try
> We've all to be 'Woke' now. Even potatoes.
We don't all need to be woke, we just need to try not to be biased or discriminatory.
> They could have expanded the range to Mrs, Ms, Mx Potato Head...
Maris?
Is it true that Mr Men is now going to become:
This reads like a Daily Mash article...
> At a meeting at work yesterday someone mentioned that it is now aggressive to use full stops I am not sure how we are supposed to write sentences anymore But I will try
Presumably the use of a question mark is now regarded as harassment?
Stop harassing me with your question mark
The context to that seems to be that a survey of teens found they were more likely to view a one or two word text message as passive aggressive or sarcastic if it had a full stop. That doesn’t feel all that surprising.
Cool.
Whatever.
What your colleague thinks that has to do with your job I have no idea. Unless your work involves sending large numbers of text messages to children.
I'm sorry
I hope the inverted comma isn't showing undue familiarity and disrespect.
that would make it very hard to use morse code or decimal numbers without being agressive

Excelllent. A whole thread of men giving their view on gender equality. Just what the world needs. Keep up the good work.
> Is it true that Mr Men is now going to become:
Actually, He Man has already been rebranded:
Mr Men will have to choose another acceptably inclusive branding. Mz Mxn, perhaps??
Like puppies in training, they do need multiple outlets
> At a meeting at work yesterday someone mentioned that it is now aggressive to use full stops
About six years behind the times, then...
> Excelllent. A whole thread of men giving their view on gender equality. Just what the world needs. Keep up the good work.
That implies that you believe that women would have a different opinion to the male posters on this thread and therefore it appears that you are gender stereotyping on their behalf.
Which is nice... 👨👩🧑

Your brain must be (deep) fried.
it’s the thin end of the wedge
> it’s the thin end of the wedge
When it boils down to it you are probably right, but lets hope if the chips are down that it manages to sauté itself out.
Mash the tateriarchy!
Right on sibling, let's root it out
> Excelllent. A whole thread of men giving their view on gender equality. Just what the world needs. Keep up the good work.
Did you bother to read the thread or did you simply dive in regardless to express your outrage? Prior to your comment, there hadn't been anyone giving their views on gender equality. In fact, as is usual with UKC threads there was more discussion about people that looked like potatoes and teenagers opinions of the full stop than there was about gender.
PR campaign to be run by starchy & starchy
> Did you bother to read the thread or did you simply dive in regardless to express your outrage? Prior to your comment, there hadn't been anyone giving their views on gender equality.
There are five
The ultimate potato head https://images.app.goo.gl/UGeGRd59S6z9Tq4w5
It's such a non-story being used to fuel outrage and clicks by various news outlets.
You can still buy Mr and Mrs Potatohead.
Hasbro are simply offering an option that might be more sensitive to a small number of their potential customers. It only took 3 comments into the thread for someone to decry we're all being forced to be woke. We're not. You can continue to buy your gender binary potato heads if you want.
I suppose everyone got what they wanted. Hasbro got their publicity, non-traditional families got a more representative toy, news outlets got their clicks and angry gammons got something to rant about.
Don't forget to add that some people also got to feel smug on the internet
The producers of Doctor Who are so woke they time-travelled back to the 1970's to make their potato head gender neutral.
> Hasbro are simply offering an ...
Someone on telly this morning suggested that maybe the company itself should consider changing its name
> Five?
> Really?
> Care to list them?
No, I don’t really care to list them for you, FactorXXX.
They are in the thread. Some subtle, sure. Subjective interpretation, sure.
But UKC forum regulars are good with nuance and subtlety so I am sure you can find them if you can be bothered.
If you’re not actually that bothered, that’s absolutely fine by me and presumably everyone else too.
> No, I don’t really care to list them for you, FactorXXX.

So, basically there aren't five then...
> “Mr.” being dropped from brand
Must be better things going on in the world than this to be outraged about.
Can we all try to see eye to eye
> Excelllent. A whole thread of men giving their view on gender equality. Just what the world needs. Keep up the good work.
Let's examine this statement.
Men make up roughly half the people, right?
Cool.
So why are you denying the lived experience of half of us?
You're an oppressor!
I'm going for a run.
> Don't forget to add that some people also got to feel smug on the internet
This is me.
I'm not sure which is more ridiculous. Dropping the 'Mr' from 'Mr Potato Head. Or giving a sh1t that the 'Mr' has been dropped at all.
On the plus-side, expending time and energy arguing about the gender identity of a plastic Maris Piper, is less of a waste-of-time than the standard issue-UKC white-privilege-racism debate.
Actually, I'm rather enjoying it!
> No, I don’t really care to list them for you, FactorXXX.
Can you list them for me then please? I'm afraid they're way too subtle for my neanderthal geordie sensibilities to spot.
No
