Any recommendations or suggestions for a jacket for a Terrier sized dog?

My little chap's current jacket has had another date with the needle and thread to patch it up.

I'm after something that has an outer shell and an insulating inner that can be removed during summer months.

His current jacket has little leg loops for his rear legs and a wrap-around that protects his chest and part of abdomen, but not his todger. This wrap-around has two velcro straps that wrap around his spine to form a belt.

Sadly there is no information on the jacket to explain the brand or manufacturer.

Open to any suggestions.

Cheers

Ruffwear is what you're looking for IMO.

Our dog is completly unsuited to any adverse weather.  His coat is very, very fine and soaks up water. It's also very fluffy and any wind goes right through it.  He appears entirely satisfied with his Ancol coat https://www.ancol.co.uk/dog/dog-walk/dog-walk-clothing/walkdogcoat/

He currently has a Heritage Green Wax one. It doesn't have much in the way of chest protection, but others do.  Despite what most would consider to be a small dog (a sub-10kg lapful), he has a medium. He's a cavapoo and about terrier-sized (Jack Russell-ish)

It's decently waterproof too.  None of this 'breathable' nonsense, which is completely wasted on a dog.   About £20-£25 or thereabout I think.

PS - no removable liner, but if it's tipping down that doesn't seem to worry him

Hurtta are very good but quite expensive, Equafleece are also very good but not removable insulation, we just put a thin waterproof one over the top when required

We-el let's be specific - it's wasted unless it's covering the paws, which do sweat.

Who am I to argue in the face of such masterful pedantry?

Nah seriously I was in a schooling for the outdoor dogwear range (I kid you not, this is a massive thing) and the rep made a massive point about how the shoes can't be waterproof because of sweaty paws. These guys are deadly serious about their dogs leisure wear.

Doesn’t he just need a Willie warmer

I have a ruffwear raincoat in size x-small that never gets used, one leg loop has snapped, so needs a stitch to repair it.

Would be happy to sell it.

Another vote for equafleece. They are surprisingly waterproof too, maybe act a bit like Buffalo do in terms of wicking. After one run we did the fleece was cold and wet on the outside, but really dry and warm on the inside.

I think with Covid and maybe supply issues there's a wait list at the moment. They're also really helpful with minor alterations if the fit needs adjusting. They're not cheap, but really good kit.

For really horrible stuff then Hurrta, but even more expensive.

Lemming, I doubt you'll find a "todger covering" jacket. Dogs are smart, but not good at unzipping flys when needed...

I can't remember asking for a todger covering jacket. The dog would not be chuffed if I got one either. He is quite partial to pissing for fun and licking his balls, or more precisely the location they used to be in.

I may take you up on that offer.

You got a link to what the style of jacket looks like?

In reply to The Lemming:

It's this red one, which is an older version of the current sun shower coat in the second link. But had very little use. My dog is skinny and long (lurcher x) so it fitted his chest but not his body length so he had to wear it like a superhero cape which he wasn't a fan of in the wind!!!
