Suspected gear forum was the best for this?

My wife and I had our first exposure to Gorge Walking this weekend, whilst doing it in shorts and tshirt was a good laugh during the heat wave, she really enjoyed it and think come the colder months the wetsuit idea is a better one.

That said, what size do people generally go for? I have a 2mm swimming suit but cant see that being thick enough to withstand the rock and I wont be scrambling in it.

Do most just go for cheap and cheerful from decathlon etc?

If you are looking for 'year round' I would look at about 5mm. Decathlon do some good canyoning wetsuits that have re-enforced areas. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/canyon-5mm-unisex-long-johns-id_8392596.html  Most outdoor centres make the clients wear board shorts over the wetsuit for protection. (or you might consider a protective seat for a harness that does the same.

A long john and jacket combo gives more flexibility e.g you can just wear the long-john in milder conditions. If you want to save cash a long john and some fleece on the top can work (normally with an old cag on top of that).

I work in gorges/canyons loads, and suffer easily with cold. Since getting: http://www.lomo.co.uk/acatalog/Octane-5mm-wetsuit-mens.html#SID=111 from Lomo I stay much warmer and can manage most of a day in water.
