Does anybody have any information around climbers recovering from a complete rupture of the quadriceps tendon? Did you /they make a full recovery, how long it took, what helped etc? I am no spring chicken, but keen to make as good a recovery as is practically possible.

Thanks. 😊

Generally you can weight bear but are in a straight leg brace or cast for 6 weeks.

You‘ve timed this perfectly

Once the straight leg brace is off you generally go into a ROM brace with the flex ion increased fortnightly and quads work started.

Depending in the severity of the tear you could be climbing in 12 weeks at a low grade .

Thanks Dave. Do people generally get back to somewhere close to previous function in your experience?

You are right about the timing as I won't be missing much climbing 😞🤔

Hi I had a total quadriceps rupture 10 years ago. The repair involved drilling 3 holes in the kneecap to wire the tendon back on.

Drop me an email if you want to hear the details and recovery
