Toes hurt when walking barefoot or in boots

Looking for some advice!

I can run to my heart's content in my trainers and trail shoes but walking around the house bare foot or hiking in my Scarpa hiking boots the middle toes on my left foot really hurt. It's annoying because it makes hiking unpleasant and it makes me want to wear trainers in the house, but I find it weird that I can run a half marathon and my toes don't hurt at all in my trainers!

Any ideas what this could be or could someone just suggest which is the medical (or other) profession I need to go to to get it looked at?!

I hope it's not the boots because they were quite expensive! I've tried putting a gel insert thing in them but it's not really helped that much.

Middle toes joints? Sharp persistent nerve type pain? Arch support better in running shoes? Look up metatarsalagia, or Morton's syndrome.

Could be mortons neuroma, but maybe the toe box on your boots is too narrow or you're lacing up too tight?
