As part of our plans to re-open the purpose-built Huddersfield Climbing Centre,  we are looking for people who are motivated and able to offer a wide range of skills. We are looking to recruit for the following roles:

Post 1

 Operations Manager

Responsible for: Duty Manager, Instructors

Starting Salary: Competitive Salary and range of benefits including further training

Hours: 40 hours per week (some weekend and evening work required) with flexible hours

The post-holder will oversee the day-to-day operations of the centre, providing a reference point regarding the management of daily activities for staff and customers, while ensuring that health & safety procedures are followed, and customer service standards are high.

The post-holder will be responsible for the line management of the Duty Manager & Instructors 

The ideal candidate will have:

CWI/RCI essential preferably with lead module

Previous experience of working in a climbing centre or outdoor centre

First Aid (training will be provided)

some routesetting experience

Post 2

Job Title: Duty Manager/instructor  

This is a dual role requiring successful applicants to manage the day to day operation of the centre as well as delivering a wide range of courses, from introductory sessions to one-to-one coaching. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will be helping to make the centre as customer-friendly as possible. As such, the role is very varied, and offers potential for someone who wishes to progress from a purely instructing role to one with management responsibility.

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Responsible for: Instructors

Starting Salary: Competitive Salary and range of benefits including further training

Hours: 40 hours per week (some weekend and evening work required) with flexible hours

You will be:

Assisting with the delivery of instructed sessions for individuals and  groups

Assisting with  route setting programme

Support the Operations Manager with the  promotion of competition programmes and events

The ideal candidate will be:

Passionate about climbing indoors and able to communicate this to fellow climbers

Reliable, with excellent customer service skills and a drive for self-development

Have good knowledge of climbing wall industry trends

CWI/RCI qualified (in house training and assessment for the right candidate)

Have experience and desire to instruct people of all ages and abilities, including differently abled climbers

Post 3 – Part time Climbing instructors

Hours:  Flexible including evening and weekends

We are looking for staff who can enthusiastically and safely deliver various climbing sessions for all ages and abilities, including adult courses for beginners and improvers, kids clubs, parties and other group sessions and events. The exact nature of instruction will depend on your skills and experience, but could potentially cover anything from complete beginners to performance or competition coaching.

You are likely to be a someone who has some experience in climbing and/or instructing- we can train you if you have the necessary enthusiasm.

Ideally, you will have RCI or CWI qualifications (if you don't have these, no worries, we also deliver in house training)

First Aid qualification desirable
