Col du Midi camping 

Any problems putting up a tent in this area for an overnight doss?

Obviously we’ll be putting it up at dusk and down early doors the next morning.

Hey! I was sleeping over there five days ago and is completely fine. I asked for permission in cosmiques hut and they told me is okay if you pitch your tent later on the day and down before morning.

There are mountain gendarmerie checking every morning for tents over there....

I think the general rule is that bivvy is allowed while camping is not. Bivy does not mean strictly using a bivy sack but pitching your tent after 5/6pm and taking it down before 7/8am in the morning. I remember this definition stated somewhere in some french documents of chamonix
