That's really just a projection based on recent images. Reasonable when a front is coming across but could be very wrong when showers are developing or dying out. The Met Office has modelled rainfall forecasts: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/map#?map=Rainfall

I find Rain Alarm https://www.rain-alarm.com/ useful.  As well as showing rain radar, it will send alerts when there is rain in the vicinity of a defined location.  This need not be where you are - I find it useful to know when I'm at work if it's raining at the venue I've planned to climb at that evening.  Available for PC, Android and iOS.

Windy for anything substantial and outside the UK - three different models to choose from for forecasts and there's also rainfall radar.

For a forecast for the next hour for rain for where i am at the time - Rain Today, with a rainfall radar for a wider look.

Or the MetOffice app or website

RainToday verus Windy for rain radar.  The rain radar detail/mapping/zoom-ablilty is so much better (different league completely!) on Windy.com

Rain Alarms radar default colours are pretty damn ugly and hard on the eyes (transparency setting helps loads). Zoom level and background mapping are very good though, but radar data very blocky.
