Hi Guys!

My friend and I are planning our own triathlon which will end climbing a mountain in the Pyrenees. We are coming from the French side and don’t want to travel too far as we are already cycling from Northen France. Could anyone recommend a mountain to climb that is a reasonable height but doesn’t require climbing equipment and is nearish Tarbes? We want a sense of achievement at the end! And good views for victory photos! Any suggestions....

In reply to kearacam: 80 k from Tarbes in the highly photogenic Cirque de Gavarnie there`s Le Taillon.  An easy walking route through the Breche de Gavarnie to a summit over 3000 mtrs. with views out over Spain and France.

What do you mean by "nearish"?  Tarbes is quite a way from the border... which is where most of the proper mountains are.

What experience do you have and what equipment (e.g. proper walking boots)?

About half the distance to the frontier, is Pic Du Midi de Bigorre - you can get a cable car down!
