Climbers’ Relation to Nature and Leisure
Introduction:
Leisure time is an aspect of our life that we tend to forget in our daily routine.Climbing is a leisure activity that is increasingly gaining popularity and understanding the reasons why climbers choose to engage in that form of leisure is very important from a policy and management perspective. The aim of this study is to identify how climbers relate to nature and the reasons why they choose climbing as a leisure activity.The benefits from participating in leisure activities are multiple including socialization, wellness, health improvement, mental well being and protection of the natural environment; however, little research exists on how different types of climbers relate to nature and their reasons for engaging in leisure.
