Hi, looking for recommendations for a present for my daughter who is a keen competitive swimmer. She would like a watch she can wear to track her swim training (pol sessions) but would also like to be able to track runs when she goes out with her mum.

So what would folks recommend that isnt going to cost silly money?

Cheers

Most competitive swimmers don't wear watches .They are quite poor at counting lengths. It's really annoying when you are sure you've done 400m and the watch insists you've done 350, or worse 375!

Running is a different matter, and most people find garmin a good brand, others use suunto or Tom Tom, though the latter isn't really in the market seriously any more. Most of These will also do pool length counting with varying success.

I use a Garmin forerunner 735xt for open water swimming, pool swimming and running and have found it excellent! I haven't had any issues with lap counting in the pool. The only downside is you need a waterproof chest strap HRM if you want the hart rate data when swimming. Its also quite expensive!
