Can anyone please recommend an insurer that knows the sport/ doesn't have crazy high premiums?

I use Aviva and they were fine with trad, sport and winter as long as it wasn't over 5000m. It would appear their actuaries use real stats rather that kneejerk reactions.

I was quoted a lot higher by some other insurers and I don't think there is any need to go through specialist brokers.

+1 for Aviva..........seemed pretty straightforward for my mainly UK - trad, winter & bouldering pursuits

An independent broker has said to me 'Aviva will only insure climbers to sports grade 4b and lower and if you mention ice climbing they will charge extra and place an exclusion on climbing'
