Arc'teryx Velaro 24/35 rucksacks: heads-up.

I still see these rucksacks for sale on Sportpursuit, so here's a warning in case anyone buys or already owns one:

The shoulder straps (and hipbelt) have a fairly stiff plastic mesh for ventilation that makes up the body of the strap (overlaying some foam). The bias binding running down the edge of the straps, which wraps the ends of this mesh material, does not prevent the 'spiky' edge of the mesh from sticking out and rubbing your jacket to bits.

I have seen three samples and they all had this problem - probably why it was discontinued so quickly. The mesh is so abrasive, due to the stiffness of the plastic, that it can ruin a hardshell in about a week.

The remedy, if you don't want to send it back to Arc'teryx, is to use a bic razor and carefully shave off the spikes that you will feel sticking out through the bias binding along the strap edges.
