Some of you might have seen elsewhere, but the long-campaigned-for, long-awaited renovation of the tiny Garbh Coire Refuge in a remote corner of the Cairngorms finally took place over several days last week. I'll be blogging about it soon with more details and some photos, but as of Saturday it was good as (if not better than) new, built to the original design (as per estate's insistence) but with modern materials. It remains a refuge rather than a bothy, but now can at least be relied upon to keep out the weather. Great work by a large cast of very determined and dedicated volunteers.

Ed: And here's Neil's account of the rebuild. Nice work all involved!
