 The Lemming 27 May 2018

Just started watching Into the Badlands and I have to say that I am very impressed with the series.

No wonder Hollywood is bricking it with online content stealing their jam.

What new stuff have you seen recently?

Cobra Kai is on Youtube now, the story of Danny Larusso and Johnny from the first Karate Kid film meeting up again in the present day. Danny and Johnny are played by the original actors and the setting is pretty much the same. So far, it doesn't suck!

Brockmire. Very funny, especially if you like your comedy deadpan and scabrous.

How new does new have to be?

I just bought The Hunger which, scarily, is twenty years old !

Is Hollywood "bricking it"?

Voice in the wilderness, I know, ( a bit like trying to find someone else who's done Cordelia on Mur Cenhinen) but give The Leftovers a try.

It won't suit everyone but if you can sit through Fargo or Twin Peaks you might like it.

Did anyone ever 'sit through' Fargo or especially Twin Peaks ?

Currently watching on weekly TV episodes

Handmaiden's Tale:. exceptional

The Bridge: excellent scandanavian noir

Modus: very good scandinavian noir (Kim Catrell as US president elected on a divisive feminist platform is a great fun and top future quiz knowledge)

Humans: very good UK android show.

House.. funny if a bit samey US medical drama.

100. Post apocalyptic teen sci-fi rather silly but I like it.

I sat through Twin Peaks in its entirety first time round, and Fargo series 1.

(More impressive is that I've watched Mulholland Drive three times)

Lost interest in the Handmaid's Tale after a few weeks.

Glad to see Saga's back.......

Just started watching Get Shorty on Sky and am enjoying it very much. I can't remember much about the original film but there's an Irish bloke playing the John Travolta part.

Worth a try.

Enjoyed 'Safe' on Netflix recently, crime drama/thriller staring Michael C. Hall (aka Dexter)

No

> Handmaiden's Tale:. exceptional

Series 1 was great, not seen the second one yet.

> The Bridge: excellent scandanavian noir

I found this predictable and to many coincidences

> Modus: very good scandinavian noir (Kim Catrell as US president elected on a divisive feminist platform is a great fun and top future quiz knowledge)

Like it up till the last episode

> Humans: very good UK android show.

Great idea, poorly explored

Best Scandi by a long way (my opinion only) was The Killing, followed by Borgen (they made politics interesting !!)

Glow on Netflix was highly entertaining comedy.

It's about a B movie director putting together a female wrestling show. Set in the 80s with a kicking soundtrack, fabulous characterisation and a good measure of nudity what's not to like.

Got through 2 series in a couple of days.

Staircase, and Making of a Murderer- the OJ Simpson trial. Both surprisingly addictive accounts of two very different trials. The former for sure is an insight into the US justice system.

Spiral - french crime drama. Fantastic.

 Tom Valentine 05 Jul 2018
In reply to jockster:

Spiral is up there with the best.

Only two problems: like a lot of cop shows featuring females, pregnancy/ family get in the way of a good story. And Tintin won't be around much longer, I suspect.

But I can put up with that as long as Maitre Karlsson is still in view.
