Just came across this article and I wondered if anyone had seen anything about this incident. A publicity stunt for a crypto currency outfit on Everest goes wrong and it seems that a Sherpa died in the process:

This is a pretty new item and I've seen no corroboration, so as in so many stories about mountaineering and Everest in particular the information may be suspect. On the face of it the journalists involved looked to have been responsible in their approach and investigated in some depth but they also have a clear moral position which may have had an effect on their reporting.

(I am registered with the FT's Alphaville service and you may have to do the same to read the item.)

A quick google throws up a few different versions of the story.  One claims all made it down safely despite a rescue and another supports the Sherpa death story:

The Everest carnival at its worst.

Thanks. That story is based on the FT one by the looks of it, so no independent corroboration yet. What was the one that claimed they all got back safely?
