The one at 126058- it’s shown on the map, but just checking it’s still there...

And the fords shown at 101059- what are they like to cross, are there stepping stones, or is it a broad shallow section? Are there any photos of it on the net?

thanks for any info...

a bump for the weekday shift... anyone got information on these river crossings? dont want to find ourselves gazing across at Beinn a'bhuird, but unable to get to it due to being on the wrong side of an unbridged torrent!

The bridge at 126058 was there on my last visit in March 2016, but can't give you any more up-to-date info.

The bridge is clearly visible on Google Earth - but of course that doesn't mean it's still there! It's probably worth asking on Scottish Hills website if you haven't already done so.

This is a 2011 photo of the bridge at 126058:

And the 'fords' at 101059 look like they have a bridge in place now:

that bit of the Avon looks like its a narrow gorge - might be tricky in spate if no bridge. Can't find any pics of the 'ford' to the SE but the river seems to open out to a wider stream a couple of hundred metres east which looks fordable to me:

Good luck!

Walked through Glen Avon 2 weeks back and took photos of the bridges. Will check later the grid refs and get back to you. There are 2 footbridges east of Faindouran and large road bridge at the east end of the glen

Can confirm that the bridge at 126058 still exists, there's also one at 098062, can't find the Ford's you mention on my map for that grid ref? The bridge at 098062 is just to the west of that ref

Thanks everyone that is brilliant...

re the ‘fords’/bridge- the 1:25000 OS map shows a ford, the 1:50000 has a bridge shown in a similar place- but I hadn’t looked that closely, so I wonder if the fords are at the last photo, but that there has been a bridge added nearby since the 1:25000 map was created?

Anyway, excellent news, we will even have a choice of crossings!
