Hey all,

Just a warning to those of you with the latest generation of 'water-resistant' iPhones (which the website states can last 30mins submerged in 1m of water.)

I recently took my iPhone X up Tryfan in some awful weather. The rain was coming in sideways and my softshell was soon pretty wet. I got my hardshell on but the chest pocket my phone was in must have got wet. The phone then sat in that warm (thankfully) and wet environment for 3 hours whilst we summited and got back down. On reaching the car there didn't seem to be any issues.... UNTIL I plugged it into the car charger. At that point the £1000 water resistant phone died. And no amount of genius bar genius could bring it back to life. If I'd let it dry out fully before turning it on or charging it, it might have survived.

I've since claimed on my insurance and bought myself a waterproof case. It was foolish of me to assume it'd be ok and I don't want anyone else making the same mistake.
