Great shame to see that Britain's two most successful competitors, Shauna Coxey and Molly Thompson Smith, are now both out with pulley injuries. Shauna is now climbing with one arm whilst Molly is awaiting surgery. Wish both of them a speedy recovery for the oncoming season.

That's such a shame. If surgery is required for Molly, then it must be quite bad. Hopefully both recover quickly.

I'm getting over a slight tear to an A2 pulley in November and know how frustrating it is to have to wait for it to recover. The saving grace was Christmas and I used the time off to build a woodie and kick back a bit.

There is a very interesting and useful write up by Cailean Harker on his A2 pulley rupture in 2015. WARNING - don't watch the video of the injury on the blog if you are squeamish.

Molly ruptured the A2, A3 and A4 pulleys in one finger, so pretty bad and presumably that's why the need for surgery.

But now had the surgery I see:

(And yeah, I can confirm the second image is pretty gruesome as she says!)

That's awful - full ruptures of the A2, 3 and 4 pulleys, very unusual.

I'll never say anything about my slight A2 tear again, nothing in comparison.
