Post-brexit, a new outer tier consisting of the UK and Turkey?

"Germany's Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel proposed on Tuesday that the European Union's upcoming Brexit deal with the UK could serve as a template for relations with other non-EU states, namely Turkey and Ukraine."

Interesting to see where we're relegating ourselves to in European thinking. Would those who voted to leave be miffed if we end up strategically positioned alongside Turkey? I seem to remember a lot of rhetoric around getting out of Europe before Turkey got in...

I feel this comment by the German FM has a lot more to do with Russia than it does the EU.

It barely makes the news at all outside of the U.K.
The U.K. press is over obsessed with brexit and tries to interpret whatever is said in whichever way satisfies their bias.

You want to know what the EU wants ? Just look at the unanimously agreed negotiation guidelines. That’s what they’ll stick to.
