Evening all.

Any chance anyone knows anything about the routes Eraser Head/True Path and Mid Air Collision/Flight Path?

Mainly why they both have two names and two different first accents.

My only guess was that they were climbed to half height or never quite the full height of the face and then finished at a later date.

Both cracking routes, look forward to hearing anything anyone has to say.

Many thanks, Emilio.

In reply to Emilio Bachini:

From what I gather:
The Route of All Evil was first climbed by George Smith in '83, then repeated by Basher Atkinson, who did a harder direct finish and called it The True Path. Then in '91 a direct start to True Path was added, called Eraser Head. So now the direct starts and finishes of Route of All Evil have been combined to give Eraser Head/True Path.

Mid Air Collision ('91) was a new direct lower half to Flight Path ('86). Lots of slightly easier lines and variation finishes weaving about on that face, now straightened out to give more sustained interest basically.

In reply to John Kettle:
Also worth mentioning that the earlier routes used little or no bolts.

George's trad line was the natural route pre bolts.

All the lines are now well bolted and the routes as described are logical for single rope use.
