At the end of October I enjoyed a wonderful 10 days hiking the Gr52 and some of the Gr52A. It was my first time in this area and it certainly didn't disappoint. From the Med through glorious woodland and on to 3000mtr peaks there is so much to discover here. Here is my account of the trip. I hope you enjoy,
Stephen

Excellent, brings back happy memories of various trips to that neck of the woods.

Great trip report; enjoyed reading it and seeing your photos.

Split my time in retirement between Scotland and Nice, so know the Mercantour quite well ( currently in Nice). Haven't done as big a walk as you yet but have stayed in Refuge Cougourde and de Nice.

There was no rain in the Nice area during October ( and, statistically, it is one of the rainiest months); although there has been rain at the beginning of Nov - much needed.

It is a great area for walking.

PS You need a better sleeping bag!

I have one but left it at home to try and save weight. Lesson learned. A stunning area for sure. I will definitely go back.
