Hi all, I've been scrambling and climbing in my much loved La Sportiva Boulder X's for a good few years now and already paid for one resole. However, recently the rand area on both toes has started to split revealing white wooly fabric. See picture: https://imgur.com/a/1FPUH

Bearing in mind how battered the shoes are I don't think it's worth paying for a repair but the soles still have plenty of life in them. Is there anything I can apply to the split (I'm thinking glue/bitumen/molten plastic etc) as a makeshift fix to stop them splitting further?

Thanks for any help

Seamgrip. Currently available at Millets and other places. Aquaseal (from fishing shops, for mending waders) is the same stuff as far as I can tell.

Mcnett freesole.

It's shiny so use it sparingly or your shoes will look like patent leather (like my old boots did)

Clean everything with soapy water before doing anything, then when dry clean again with solvent (IPA probably best). Then apply glue, and clamp it all tight when waiting for the glue to cure for 24hrs.
