I just recently discovered these, and I really like them.
Worth a mention I thought, for the benefit of anyone who fancies a very convenient camping curry.

At least it'll kill a few midges with any luck..

Can't imagine why you'd want to eat a laxative when you're going into an environment where needing a shit can be inconvenient to say the least

They definitely don't have that effect on me. If that's what they do to you, you probably need a bit more fibre in your diet generally. You get used it it.

As to the rest of the 'why' - they're very tasty, last for ever without refrigeration and are ridiculously easy. Only downside is that they're not dried or anything, so relatively heavy if you wouldn't be carrying the water anyway.

Same benefits as the "Look What We Found" thingamabobs in short, but suitable for veggies.

Also, I don't generally find it particularly traumatic to take a dump whilst camping. Here's a book recommendation for you: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0898156270

I have been using the ashoka ones lately. Pretty tasty, although you need to sort out rice/naan separately for everything except the biryani.

are the ones I seem to have most often.

Try B and M. A pouch of Saag Aloo is 69p, then with a sachet of CPUs cous 39p you have a very cheap, fulfilling and 5 mins to make meal in a pan.

Ooh no mate, I couldn't possibly. I can just about cope with Asda, but I'm *much* too middle class for B&M.

That's fine, you keep the economy going and I will keep on remembering my place

Another convenient option I found was Morrison's golden rice (comes in a little sachet), and then when it's cooked - add some falafels to soak up the heat and extra water (ideally crispy ones, but they can be harder to get unless you're buying them fresh from a falafel shop).
