Pretty much as the tittle says. In swanage this weekend and would love to take a mate on this awesome route but the tides are not favourable.
Is it possible to access the start at high tide? And if so what is the best way to do it?
Obviously the usual down climb and traverse is out, but I was wondering if it is possible to ab down the other side of the pinnacle, or even through the blow hole it's self?

Cheers

Check the tide heights, often only a meter or two range. What is more important is the sea state.

As above, it is more the swell(sea state) you want to watch. The traverse is fairly exposed into the cave and a wave could easily take you out.

I have done the route at mid-to high tide but in v. calm seas.

As for Abing down the blow hole, I wouldn't recommend it. The finish is narrow enough for a rope to drop through but not a person. Imagine a slot, gradually widening to the back of the blow hole. Menaing once you had squirmed your way to the end, all that would await is a substantial swing as the ab rope slips down the narrowing where you couldn't fit....if that makes sense!
Additionally an ab down the other side it most likely to result in an unplanned prussic job. Hope that helps.

As above, it's the sea state that is important, today could be a bit rough and you could get wet. Going to be a bit windy tomorrow but low water is later, we are coming onto neaps and the tidal range tomorrow is 0.7m in the morning, 0.5m in the afternoon so not much to worry about.
It is possible to ab to the boulders at the cave entrance from directly above, take a good look before committing, and don't throw the rope down, it will get caught in the boulders in the sea. There is a stake high up on the slope that can be used. The ab down Styx (S 4a) to the west of the pinnacle drops you onto the wettest part of the traverse with the smallest ledge.
Despite the advice above it is possible to ab in through the exit hole, it is awkward and quite tight. Graduation Day (E2 5c) and The Ferryman Waits (E3 6a) finish there.
Have fun.
