I've several naturalists guides to the Alps, or to parts of the Alps but they are all in French. Not sure I've seen anything similar in English. My favourite for covering all the Alps is probably 'Guide du naturaliste dans les Alpes' by several authors including J-P Schaer & C Favarger which covers geology, plants & animals plus traditional land use including how traditional housing (eg chalets) varies across the Alps.
Thanks for the suggestions, forgot to reply at the time.
I was writting a short essay on alpine flaura/fauna.
In the end found a book in the library about medicinal plants of europe, so found some stuff in that of intrest.
