Hi folks, I've recently returned from a week in Oetztal doing a bit of Sport, but mainly Via Ferratas. Absolutely fell in love with the place and had a look in the local guide for the possibility of returning in winter for some WI routes due to the number of large waterfalls with easy access. I just wondered if anyone else has been (particularly Langenfeld area) and if so what the reliability of routes coming in is on average and if anyone knows of anywhere were accents of the routes are logged as can't find them on UKC. Cheers

Cheers Gareth, will definitely have to try to get some translations off this page - are you planning to go this winter then? When are you thinking? Maybe late Jan? Have you been to the area before? Cheers

Haven't been there before, so I think I would contact the site owners to get more info on the routes and most reliable months, but I guess Jan/Feb would be quite ok... Depending on the aspect of the routes etc etc.

According to the guys who run the site, Jan and Feb are typically the most reliable tho I guess a month or so either side should yield good conditions too.

We go skiing in Solden every year and pass through Langenfeld on route. For the last 2 seasons a lot of the routes appear to have been well formed in Jan, but that's viewing from a moving vehicle. We have thought about taking climbing kit for a day off skiing, but means taking too much weight. The routes do look good. You can get English translated guide books with some of the routes in for free from the tourist offices in the area.
