Greetings!

My husband and I are off to the Ecrins between the 11th and 17th August, for some rock climbing. We are also hoping to do some summer mountaineering and are looking for an English speaking guide for 3-4 days during this period.

If people could put forward some recommendations that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rayan

You need an IFMG, perhaps try the locals for an English speaker or the BMG;

I believe Paul Swail knows the area pretty well & is a nice guy, which helps. Is also IFMGA qualified & speaks reasonable English for someone from the north of Ireland. That's a joke btw.

Hi Rayan

I am the Rob mention above (many thanks for the shout out Ben how much do I owe you for the nice guy bit)

for mountaineering stuff you should use a IFMG guide, I run dream-trails.com and have a second business Alpbaseacademy.com through these I work with a lot of local guides, many of whom speak perfect to very good English, and I can highly recommend them for a great enjoyable day in the mountains.

Our head guide Mathieu Carlhian is very good, his mum is english so perfect language skills, he is also the head guide of the Ecrins bureau des guides (the link someone has added) and he also works as a trainer for ENSA, he knows the area like the back of his hand and is a really easy going, all round nice guy.

If you like drop me an email rob@dream-trails.com and we can chat about what you are looking for and see if we can help.

Many thanks Rob
