Prehistoric sites in Scotland - who is "in charge"?

In England we have English Heritage, whatever you might think of them.

Who is the equivalent in Scotland? I've tried Google but nothing comes up.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm concerned that a Bronze Age settlement on Orkney is being trashed and the landowners are as good as encouraging the destruction.

In reply to Frank the Husky:

Historic Environment Scotland. As I understand it, there's a particular problem in Orkney, where there are so many sites and not enough money, so it's very hard to protect every site.

In reply to Colin Moody:

I was going to say Historic Scotland but I see they've been superseded by HES. I should really have know that as the practice I work for has been involved in several key discussions with the body regarding some quite high profile planning matters over the last few years!

In reply to Fraser:

I thought Historic Scotland, but was corrected by wikipedia when I searched.

In reply to Frank the Husky:

As others have said it's Historic Environment Scotland.

A minor point is that the equivalent in England for Scheduled sites etc is Historic England. English Heritage is the tea towel selling, property owning arm.

Anyway, best of luck with sorting this...
