Ah, as a mid layer, the R1 makes a lot more sense, although I find it warmer than most '100 weight' fleece; again, a double-edged sword.
So many people seem to use the R1 as a winter base layer, and I'd assumed you would be. too... I use the T3 as a base layer, or only layer. The Montane Allez is made from the same fabric, judging by the garment weight. For hoodless winter base layers, I go for the Decathlon Techwinter 500.
I went for a job lot purchase to get my T3s; maxed out their CD250 delivery charge bracket. Bought in the sales, they worked out, even with delivery, duty and the extortionate 'handling charge', at about £35 each.
