Hi everyone,

I'm looking at doing Ben Nevis this week with a couple of friends. We were looking at route options and were looking at the Carn Mor Dearg Arete route.

Does anyone know the weather conditions/ conditions underfoot are there at the moment. From looking online in April it can range from clear to full blizzard conditions.

Obviously we wouldn't want to do it if is is completely under snow but could deal with the odd patch.

Any advice?

Thanks,

SAIS are not forecasting anymore this season but they are blogging on conditions.

As well as underfoot conditions, look at the overall forecast. MWIS was forecasting gale force winds on summits for Friday and Saturday last time I checked.

The arête itself will be largely free of old snow (though it may have a dusting of fresh), but the final drag up to the summit plateau will likely still have old snow which will probably be refrozen and then require crampons and axe.
