Doug Scott CBE is one of the UK's foremost mountaineers and, alongside Dougal Haston, was the first Briton to climb Everest. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Doug has made 45 expeditions to the high mountains of Asia and scaled 40 peaks, of which half were climbed by new routes or for the first time Alpine Style.

Ian Row is a transatlantic rower who made the world's first attempt at the 3,000 mile unsupported crossing of the Atlantic from Africa to The Caribbean in under 30 days.

Wherever it is, make sure the toilets are well organised. Turns out Doug Scott can hold a serious grudge about that kind of a thing.

Sorry about that. An Adventurers Evening is at 7 pm on Thursday 11th May. Venue: The Garden Rooms at Tennants, Leyburn, North Yorkshire DL8 5SG. So the loos will be very good indeed. Unfortunately I cannot amend the Premier Post.
