So. Farewell then, Simond Alpinism Pant,
Star of
Many a 'recommend me a good winter trouser'
thread

Your threads were long and frequent
But loose threads were not
Because
You were quite well made for the price

Your braces were detachable
And now you have been
Removed.

I was in Decathlon today and got chatting to a member of staff, apparently the much loved Simond Alpinism Pant is to be discontinued (they checked on the computer; it's true). Would anyone care to say a few words?

I bought every pair they had in my size.

Sad news indeed. I predict a Captain Paranoia led state funeral petition.

Yes. Specifically, that there is a new model as part of their new collection - the 'Mountaineering pants', which seem to have pretty much the same features

I did wonder when they were knocking them out at £32.

Glad I bought a pair at the time...

Let's hope the replacement is the same quality, even if £10 more...

Looks like the only differences are angled hip pocket, added waist closure, possible removal of crampons patches. Fabric may be the same judging by the weight. Braces are still present. And look long...

Or trousers...

Disgustingly insensitive to bring up their replacement on a memoriam thread.

RIP Simond Alpanist Trousers. The world will be a more expensive place without you.

Thanks for the tip off. I've just bought another pair for £32, cheaper than the original £39 I paid for my first pair years ago! Top trousers.

Glad I bought a pair, used them a couple of times already and well impressed.

Also bought a pair of the Cascade trousers and the Alpine Rock Pants, both great and subject to lots of "What pants are they mate?" questions.

In reply to Roberttaylor:

That's a shame. Cracking pair of trousers at a very cheap price compared to the competition.

Might have to get myself another pair as a spare whilst they're still around.
