Right, so I'm looking for a very packable/light but exceptionally warm insulated jacket. The wife fell runs insistently and has mentioned how one of her many friends has a super awesome insulated jacket that packs down to next to nothing. pretty sure it was a hint.

so since its been an age since i bought a jacket I thought i'd ask the collective.

being light and packable, i'd guess synthetic down? should it be primaloft?

I assume she wants it as an emergency layer rather then to actually run in?

I'd go for synthetic rather than down. Something like a North Face thermoball would be a good option. Surprisingly warm and super light.

thanks all.

yup, your on the money she wants it as an emergency layer.

I'll have a look at the both of them.

the OMM looks a little more packable, but i bet the northface is warmer.

If you decide to go with the North Face, I've actually got one of these packed up ready to return to Sportsshoes

https://www.sportsshoes.com/product/the14/the-north-face-women's-therm...

It was sent out as a large, but it's actually an Asian fit large which is a US medium. I'm a broad shouldered size 12 and it's a bit snug so I've got the next size up for myself. If you're interested let me know - I can just as easily post it to you as send it back to the retailer. £80, posted.
