I have just got myself a pair of Rab guide gloves. My previous gloves (mountain equipment randonee) had similar feeling leather and they died due to the leather splitting in the inner knuckles. I guess this was due to them constantly getting wet freezing & drying - so to give my gloves a better shot at a longer life what can I do, if anything?

I tend to use something like this:

Also available from other supermarkets - though you'll have to venture into the cleaning section

Certainly help keeps them flexible and stops the leather getting dried out, no real idea if it does much to prolong the life....

SNO Seal is great for all things leather. Use it on all my gloves.

I use Mcnett seam grip on the seams and Grangers G wax on the leather

+1 for Grangers G-Wax, it's only £3 and great for leather boots too.
