Stone pitching work on Cat Bells montage, 4 kb

The National Trust has launched an appeal to raise £300,000, the rough price tag for repairing 2km of Lake District paths at a cost of £160 per metre.

How much per metre !!!! I'm stumped for words.
OK, the stone is flown in, but it does seem excessive but isnt much of the work done by volunteers.
Maybe if they fly in astro turf, it would be cheaper and kinder on folks knees
I amazed by the way Not for profit organisations and charities often waste money this is so hard to raise in the first place.
