My googling skills have deserted me, I'm trying to find some male/female inline connectors to replace the flaky ones on my dead "deal extreme" light. Something waterproof with a reassuringly positive locking mechanism would be nice. Any suggestions gratefully received.

For my magicshine ligth.
Personally never seen any suitable connectors on any RC plane, and i own quite a few myself.

In the grand UKC tradition of suggesting an apple when you ask about oranges, does it need to be waterproof? Would a couple of crimped on bullet connectors do? If you are worried about shorting then cut the leads at different lengths: (bad ASCII diagram alert)

In reply to Reach>Talent: Thanks that might do the trick with a bit of heat shrink sleeving over the exposed metal crimpy ends. Although I'll probably still search for a combined sort twist locky type connector because it looks a bit neater.

Do you know roughly how much current it draws? This might be a bit OTT as it is good for 20A. Also it's 3 pin not 2. It's pretty tricky to find something for your application that doesn't need a special crimp tool that costs £100s. Solar PV connectors would probably be ideal if you can find a friendly PV installer to put the connectors on the cables for you so you don't have to spend megabucks on a crimp tool.

We use MC4 connectors on our solar PV systems which is DC on the roof side.

Bottom of the page "Tamiya" style ones.

Ran them on my RC cars years back and while not waterproof in a diving sense, they always worked for running cars through mud and water and coped with it all being flung up at them by the wheels (the connectors were outsdie the chasis / body.

Have just realised i can get a extension cable for my magicshine light, so will get one of those, and chop it in two, then solder new cable onto the battery pack.

In reply to Mikkel: I just got this from a certain auction site 230916709501. I must admit suggestions of specialist crimpers and hundreds of pounds had me slightly alarmed. This male/female pair of connectors are supplied with ~15cm of two core cable attached and cost 1.99 including postage.
