Is it my imagination or are half ropes becoming less popular. I've been looking around for a decent deal and many shops don't even stock half ropes only single.

In reply to GridNorth: Or they are so popular all the shops have run out of them and are waiting for new stock.

In reply to GridNorth:

They are probably more popular in the UK than anywhere else. Those of us in the US who use them are something of a fringe group, and twins seem to be the European preference. Sport climbing seems to have predisposed folks to single ropes, although there are some clipping situations at the first few bolts in which doubles would be advantageous.

In reply to rgold: I was ice climbing all day today using a 9mm single rope. Just simpler for the sort of crag ice we do.
