Photoshop/InDesign Help

Ive googled the living daylights out of this and can't come up with a solution and I can't figure it out myself. Sadly I am not hugely savvy with PS or ID

I have a photo which I want to blend in to a dark background. But I want the colour of the photo to match the colour of the dark background so it kind of blends in.

An example of what I want to acheive is in the link http://www1.snapon.com/toolsatheight its the brochure thingy on the right.

Any help would be greatly received.

So essentially colourise the photo?

Is PS/PSE - Add a hue/saturation layer, make it grey/dark grey, click the "colourize" button and play with the slider.

To specifically match the background coluor - use the pippette tool to select the colour you're colorize-ing it to.

Or... even easier - just create a solid colour layer of the colour you want to blend to and select the "Color" mode of blending...

Put the solid colour behind the image you want to blend then desaturate the top image and turn it's blend mode to multiply. I find this works well.
