Looking at the Mammut website, at Ladies Synthetic Jackets...any reviews or experience of them? Or should I just get her a mens jacket?

I hear other companies are also making synthetic jackets for women, these days.

I realise you asked about Mammut but my wife is pretty keen on the ladies cut from Mountain Equipment.

From my experience of buying a cheap men's jacket, you're much better getting her a ladies' one, and one that fits her well - it makes a big difference in warmth if it's the right shape and fits properly.

(I mean I bought a decent men's jacket because it was on offer, not that I bought a 'cheap' jacket)

In reply to carrot_boy (North East Wales MC): Arcteryx Atom (SV if she feels the cold, LT if she doesn't) I'd always go with the SV, it feels as warm as my down jacket, is a third of the size and you barely notice you're wearing it!
