In reply to UKC Gear: Worth pointing out that the following all have 'avalanche parks' where it is possible to practise the use of transceiver at al. Just give them a call to find out about using the facility:

In my opinon I'm not sure "handling multiple burials" separates it from the crowd... lots of beacons can handle multiple burials and have 3 antennas.

I would encourage any one interested to read here http://beaconreviews.com/transceivers/

In reply to UKC Gear: "The Mammut Pulse Barryvox can deal with 'multiple burials'. That is, if more than one person is buried, then those people who are not buried can search for more that one person at once. I could be searching for 'Dave' whilst my friend is searching for 'Barry'. With more simple transceivers, they just point everyone to the nearest buried device, which can slow down a team search."

I don't this right, they will do multiple burials but not like that. They take you to the nearest victim, you "mark it" then it takes you to the next nearest. You can't set your set to search for Dave or Barry, their not that good.

In reply to OwenM:

I agree, sorry to be annoying but the description in the article is completely wrong... all transceivers tell you just the distance to the nearest signal and many modern transceivers, including the pulse, allow you to 'mark' one and go onto the next. The pulse is good because it's user interface makes this easy and clear.

Mammut also now make a simpler version of the pulse, worth looking at because it's much cheaper!
