Upper Wharfedale, 3 kbA circular route leaving from Gargrave (can be tweaked to leave from Skipton). Makes for a nice day out with some dramatic scenery passing through gritstone and limestone country.

39.82 miles, 64 km, 780m ascent, 3:30 – 5 hours. Skipton

In reply to Will Hunt:

Nice route. I'd avoid the A65 like the plague though, especially at weekends.

Why not drop from Settle down to Wigglesworth on the back roads, then across to meet the A682 just south of Long Preston, and then off that almost straight away to go back to Gargrave via Bank Newton? Really nice minor roads for the most part, with the bonus of a nice pub in Wigglesworth.
