NEWS: Malcolm Bass and Paul Figg climb West Face of Vasuki Parbat

Malcolm Bass and Paul Figg  descending the north west ridge after climbing the west face, 4 kbMalcolm Bass and Paul Figg have made the first ascent of the 1600m West Face of Vasuki Parbat, a rarely climbed 6780m peak in the Garwhal Himalaya, India.

The face was first attempted by Mick Fowler and Paul Ramsden in 2008, but a period of heavy snow fall gave them no time to acclimatise...

Sounds like a real adventure, thoughts go back to the time when your mum would tie your gloves to string and threaded them though the arms of your jacket to stop you losing them. Perhaps some development of this theory could be useful for Malcolm Bass.

Blimey, that sounds like fun. Good effort.

Off topic, I once saw a Kiwi lady called Pat fall a good distance off Lord of the Flies while trying to do Right Wall. I was very impressed with her reaction, which was something along the lines of 'oh, what a shame', as opposed to the more forthright observations some of us might have found helpful. Wonder if that was this same PD?
