I was contacted out of the blue by Pavle one year ago asking about Jebel Misht in Oman. We ended up having quite a long exchange of emails over the next few months. He was really pleasant, modest and enthusiastic; no discernable attitude whatsoever despite being an outstanding climber. I really hope he is OK.

Jack, your report is copied and pasted from the one on the Alpinist website yesterday, I presume, so the sentence " The exact details of the incident are unclear, and there remains hope that in the morning, a rescue attempt will be made." is now out of date.

Do you have any details on the current situation as yet (ie the day after the report was written)? What happened with their rescue attempt? I really hope this turns out well and that Pavle is okay... Fingers crossed.

It looks like members from a K2 expedition have gone down the mountain and headed to the Muztagh tower to help on the rescue efforts.
Pavle Kokzek has been confirmed dead, though the body has not yet been found.
