You hear it now and again from certain forum heads on the forums, "They are all armchair climbers", or "What do they know? None of them climb."

Not so of course.

Nick Smith, UKClimbing.com's designer and webmeister reports:

"Today we reached half a million logged climbs on the database, with a lead of West Rib at Dinas Mot..............

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

come on mick, you usually throw the stats at us!

how many active logbooks are there?

how many climbs are logged for the last 12 months?

how many topropes of 3PS were there?

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:
Surely the logbook should lose the "Beta" tag from it's title? There may be quite a few features on peoples respective wishlists but its certainly not beta software.

Major Logbook upgrade coming soon when we will lose the Beta tag. We have an extensive ToDo list for the system, and we will be upgrading the Crag Database system at the same time and properly integrating the two systems together.

Some stats:

87,975 routes added by 1,846 users
530,074 logged climbs from 4,999 users

Be the 5,000th Logbook! Start one today!

In reply to Alan James - UKC:

Lol "coming soon". Is that normal persons "coming soon". Or like the training diary/microsoft minutes coming soon.

Cheers
Tim
In reply to tbertenshaw:

In this case it is a real 'coming soon' although I accept that you do have a point!

UKC is currently moving to a new faster server and this work should be finished next week. Then I think Nick has a short holiday and the next project after that is Logbooks/Databases. Funds have been allocated!

Alan
In reply to Alan James - UKC: Awesome, looking forward to it.

In reply to Alan James - UKC:

I was going to say. It's not like you can go to a shop a buy a training logbook for UKClimbing.com.

Buy one get one free.

Funds have not only to allocated but they have to be raised Tim!

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

Hi Mick,
not sure what your on about here mate unless stating the already blatantly obvious for someones benefit other than mine.

I was (tongue in cheek) pointing out (regardless of the cost) that the training logbook page also uses the phrase "coming soon" and has done so for years (plural).

cheers

Great, must remember that the slowness and crashes then are the new servers fault. Sods law will take over.

Except that the new server is not run by Nick and has 24/7 emergency cover.

In reply to Mick Ryan - UKClimbing.com:

I wondered upon reading this statement, how many metres collectively have we climbed?
In reply to halo: We recently added heights for over 16,000 climbs in the database, but there are still plenty of others with no height information.

You can help out by clicking 'edit climb' and entering the height for any climbs you know about. Then we could easily calculate a total height climbed!

Cheers
