The highest, the hardest, the best, the richest, the sexiest, are all sure-fire attention grabbers. We must, it seems, keep up with the Joneses. Climbers are no exception........

So did you follow the links from 'Everest to Playboy' or 'Playboy to Everest' Mick?

Dear Mick

I see you are getting desperate for news items.

"Do a Google search for Martyna Wojciechowska, the Polish woman who summitted recently and who also features on the cover of the Polish edition of Playboy and the click yields 511,000 results"

Slightly fewer if you do the search correctly. Also, the search result would have been high enough before Playboy or Everest, as she was already a high profile rally driver and TV presenter.

It's funny Norrie. There is a character limit on the news items. I had originally written a longer (whimsical) piece that actually included you as you are such an eminent and notorious figure of the UKC forums

"We all know that sex sells, even Norrie Muir the famous Scottish mountaineer and climbing pundit would concede that surely."

Dear Mick

I agree sex sells, but to a limited market - to sad lonely people. This is no reflection on the seller and I prefer to be giving things on a voluntary basis.

Did you know Norrie that it advisable to gain an extra stone in weight before you attempt Everest, as you can expect to lose up to 20 per cent of body weight on Everest.

Great way to loose weight.

Dear Mick

A stone, do you think I am 5 stone, I'm not a sports climber.

I would put on 10 lbs before the winter, as I would loose that weight over a long weekend in the winter and put it back on again for the following weekend. Lucky the wife is a good cook.

Can't you take a lead and start calling it by its proper name - Chomolungma or whatever. Everyone will get confused at first, but that's happened before with the new routes on Denali (Mckinley) and debacle surrounding Uluru (Ayer's) and we soon got over it. I think we should keep K2 though because it sounds f*cking scary.

I think i kinda of agree with Norrie. I wasn't really sure what the 'news' part of this was. Maybe wou would have been better making it an article - then you could of gone with the longer version.
