For those with the printed paper version; the plug is on page 37.

Joining your local musical society is taking a risk?

In reply to sandywilson:

I'd be risking my fellow musicians' hearing if I were to join.

Yeah but it also includes "Join a musical society" under the heading "Take a Risk"...

What's that all about??? Fear of trombones swinging around knocking you on the head, or violin bows poking you in the eyes???

For me, the fear in joining a musical society is fear of retribution.

I was once told I would be an ideal for the Christmas choir, because when I sang "sudden dread would sieze their troubled minds"

Have you ever done it? Going to any club or society by yourself is exceedingly daunting. I spent 30 minutes outside a dance class plucking up the courage to go in for the first time and I would describe myself as outgoing. I guess if you are timid it would be an exceedingly daring thing to do.
In reply to Richard:

or 'Go Climbing at Vixen Tor for added danger!'

In reply to Alan James - UKC:

Or play "W*nker" in a northern pub for proper riskiness. You know the one? You sit around with your effete student friends, and someone is nominated to go up to a stranger and call them a w*nker. Then they come back and pick the next person to go.

The game ends when someone is beaten up. Funnily enough, I don't know anyone who actually claims to have played it.

Also, I can't imagine it being described in the Mirror's Sex and Health supplement...

that's right. when it comes to risk-taking, climbing is up there with... ice skating

In reply to FrankBooth:

it's fairly risky going to a climbing wall.

you could get your car broken in to.
you could get a fleck of chalk in your eye.
you could slip and scrape your knee.

Indoor climbing is up there with ice skating. You don't think the Mirror would advocate taking real risks, would you?
